Withdrawing cash with foreign bank cards is often very expensive and difficult, but cash is often the preferred method of payment in Montenegro, so we recommend bringing sufficient cash from home.
In many cases, an identity card or passport is sufficient for a stay of up to 90 days. However, travel/entry requirements vary depending on your nationality and country of origin, so please always check with your local authority or consulate for current regulations.
You can find small shops and kiosk everywhere, which offer basic thinks like food, drinks and a small selection of cosmetics and household goods. There is more choice in the large supermarkets which are usually found in the larger towns and cities.Shopping at the weekly market or at the roadside fruit and vegetable vendors, who offer a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables every day, is also highly recommended. Please note that supermarkets are closed on Sundays and public holidays, and you'll only be able to buy a few small items at the gas station or eat at a restaurant.
Trash must be disposed of by yourself in the public trash containers located everywhere along the roadside. In Montenegro, there are no trash containers per household/accommodation for waste disposa. Garbage collection is only available in rare cases. Please help to protect the nature from soiling and use the puplic trash containers
